REDWOOD CITY, CALIF. – (March 3, 2003) — Shutterfly, the leading online photo service, today announced the launch of Shutterfly Pro Galleries, a unique offering that provides the infrastructure for professional photographers, clubs, schools, non-profits, businesses and other organizations to show and sell their photos online at a profit.
Shutterfly will host the galleries and service the purchasing, printing and order fulfillment functions. Pro Galleries “partners” can create and manage their own galleries, complete with a vanity URL if they prefer. They can set their own pricing and create custom printed back and header messaging. Partners can then drive traffic to their galleries by email or by providing a link to the URL on their own web site. Partners receive monthly payments for their share of the revenue generated from print orders from their galleries. Shutterfly generates revenue from setup and annual subscription fees, and print orders.
“Shutterfly has received more than a thousand inquiries from organizations and individuals seeking to use Shutterfly as a way to sell their photos to their customers or constituents, either for profit or fundraising opportunities,” said Peter Elarde, Vice President of Product Marketing at Shutterfly. “This is another example of Shutterfly listening to their customers and responding with a product or service that answers their needs.”
As part of the service, each Pro Galleries partner can select the appropriate gallery plan with corresponding annual subscription rates and wholesale print pricing. They also have the flexibility to add password protection to each of their galleries. Additionally, all Pro Galleries accounts have the benefit of the same photo editing options as traditional consumer accounts, including cropping, borders and Shutterfly’s proprietary VividPics technology.
Those wishing to establish a Pro Galleries account may visit the Shutterfly web site at www.Shutterfly.com and click on the Business Solutions section to register.
