Shutterfly Invites Customers to Give Gifts of Extra Meaning this Holiday Season in Partnership with Covenant House

Nov 15, 2024

Shutterfly donates $1 to Covenant House for every blanket sold starting on Giving Tuesday

This holiday season, Shutterfly is once again partnering with Covenant House to raise awareness and support the more than 4 million youth across the country who will experience homelessness this year.

While Shutterfly customers are creating and giving meaningful gifts to one another, they’re helping us give the most meaningful gift of all – the warmth and security of home – to youth experiencing homelessness. Beginning on Giving Tuesday, December 3rd, through December 11th, Shutterfly will donate $1 to Covenant House for every Shutterfly blanket purchased, up to $50,000.

Join Shutterfly in Supporting Covenant House’s Critical Work

Since 1972, Covenant House has opened their doors to more than 1.5 million young people experiencing homelessness and survivors of human trafficking. Every young person at Covenant House receives a warm bed, food, health and wellness services, a case manager, and, most important of all, unconditional love and absolute respect.

By purchasing a blanket during this time period, Shutterfly customers will help us contribute to Covenant House’s critical work to support youth.  Throughout the month of December alone:

  • 2,400 youth will sleep in a Covenant House bed each night.
  • 74,400 nights of safe shelter will be provided.
  • 140,000 warm meals will nourish Covenant House youth.
  • 200 young adults and single mothers with children will transition to safe, stable, permanent housing. These individuals will be living independently, working, paying rent, and contributing to their communities.

Covenant House is Leading the Movement to End Youth Homelessness

To kick off Youth Homelessness Awareness Month, Covenant House hosted a rally on Friday, November 1st, in Times Square featuring live entertainment, giveaways, and interactive experiences.  And, during the event, participants packed more than 500 outreach kits for homeless youth filled with essential items, including beautiful plush fleece Shutterfly blankets.

“Events like tonight and corporate partnerships, in general, is a way for us to get our message out,” said Dr. Shakeema North-Albert, Chief Executive Officer at Covenant House New York, “so that people know what we are doing across the United States and abroad to help serve the needs of young people who are experiencing homelessness. I hope community members and guests take away that youth homelessness is an issue that can be solved if we all work together to make it happen.”

Meet the Youth that Covenant House Supports

Former residents of Covenant House DJ, Octavia, Hannah and Shanai shared the impact that Covenant House has had on them, and what makes a gift particularly meaningful.

Covenant House means new beginnings, fresh starts. No judgment, safe haven, a mecca of safety. ~DJ

Covenant House is a safe haven, a supportive community, a chance to rebuild a life. It’s more than just a shelter. It’s a beacon of hope. Covenant House means survival, hope and family. ~Octavia

The most meaningful gift I’ve received and probably also have given is compassion. Compassion sticks with you for so long and it does more for you going forward even more than it does for you in the moment. ~Shanai

I’ve realized just listening to others and encouraging others was truly of deep value. I think sometimes those types of gifts are overlooked, so that’s a way to help someone when you don’t necessarily feel like you have a lot to offer. ~Hannah
