SHUTTERFLY UPGRADES FREE PHOTO SOFTWARE TO OFFER TIME-SAVING EDITING OFFLINE

Jun 25, 2003

REDWOOD CITY, CA – (June 25, 2003) — Shutterfly, the leading online photo service, today announced the launch of its new, free software upgrade, Shutterfly Express™ 3.0 for Windows users.

Shutterfly Express, which replaces Shutterfly’s SmartUpload™ for Windows, enables customers to use Shutterfly in a way that is simpler and faster. Customers can easily copy pictures from their digital camera or memory card to their computer and review and edit pictures at full size offline. Without leaving the software program, they can quickly set up a print order or picture share for family and friends, and then walk away from the computer while their pictures are automatically uploaded to their Shutterfly account and the order or share is sent. When the upload is complete, customers receive an order confirmation on screen and by email.

“Shutterfly Express is targeted to our primary customers, time-starved mothers who are usually the family archivists,” said Dave Bagshaw, Shutterfly’s Chief Executive Officer. “This is yet another step in our continuing effort to make Shutterfly the most customer-friendly photo service in the market today.”

The improved software offers automatic detection when a digital camera or memory card is plugged into the computer, and then allows the user to quickly copy pictures to a folder on their computer. Shutterfly Express has convenient offline editing options, which include cropping, red-eye removal, quick fix and image rotation. Customers can use their images as screensavers and create slideshows. The software also provides a printable quick-start guide.
