SHUTTERFLY INTRODUCES NEW 4″ X 8″ HOLIDAY PHOTO CARD GIVING SEASON’S GREETINGS A NEW LOOK

Oct 31, 2001

REDWOOD CITY, CALIFORNIA (October 31, 2001) — Shutterfly, the nation’s leading online photo service, today announced the introduction of a new way to send holiday greetings, the 4″x8″ holiday photo card. Now Shutterfly customers can choose between this new offering and the company’s existing holiday photo greeting cards to send their holiday wishes. Both card options are ways that Shutterfly’s innovative and personalized products help people stay in touch with the people who matter most, throughout the holiday season and the entire year.

The 4″x8″ holiday photo card combines a professional-quality, glossy photo with a holiday theme border and a personalized greeting. Shutterfly is offering a dozen unique border styles, ranging from traditional holiday designs specifically created for Kwanzaa, Hannukkah and Christmas, to distinctive seasonal borders.

A recent online survey by Harris Interactive, on behalf of Shutterfly, found that 78% of respondents agreed that sharing photographs is a good way to stay in touch over the holidays this year.

“Shutterfly’s new 4″x8″ holiday photo card improves on the traditional photo card available from local retailers and is an ideal option for holiday greetings this year,” says Andy Wood, CEO of Shutterfly. “While there is nothing better than being with friends and family during the holidays, sending a photo card with smiling faces helps people feel closer and more connected.”

To create a card, users pick one of the dozen holiday borders available and choose their favorite picture, which can be enhanced with Shutterfly’s editing tools such as cropping and red-eye removal. Then, the user can add their custom holiday message, up to 255 characters in length. With a few more clicks of the mouse to choose quantity, the chore of finding and writing holiday greeting cards is finished in a matter of minutes — all without leaving your keyboard!

The 4″x8″ holiday photo card is priced, based on quantities, from $0.99 to $0.69 per card (including envelopes) and delivered to the sender in sets of 25.

“These cards are a terrific value, comparable to what you’d find at a local retailer,” said Wood. “They are of the high quality people have come to expect from Shutterfly, and are a very personal way to share special moments across the miles.”
