SHUTTERFLY EXTENDS ITS AWARD WINNING PHOTO BOOK LINE

Feb 27, 2006

REDWOOD CITY, CALIF. – (February 27, 2006) — Today from the Photo Marketing Association (PMA) 2006 Annual Convention & Tradeshow, Shutterfly, the leading independent online photo service, announced several enhancements to its award winning Photo Book product line. With Shutterfly’s Photo Books, customers can publish their own stories in custom coffee-table books. New styles, more layouts and cover choices along with several enhancements to the Photo Book creation process simplify the experience while offering customers even more creative ways to preserve memories. Shutterfly Photo Books are available in the Shutterfly Store at www.shutterfly.com/photobooks

Shutterfly’s new Photo Book styles (e.g. a vintage “Travel” motif) let customers create themed books to commemorate a variety of special occasions such as vacations, birthdays, weddings and more. To add to the professional look of the Photo Books, Shutterfly has also introduced several new page layouts that include full-bleed photos – whereby a photo covers an entire page. Shutterfly has added four new leather Photo Book covers, expanding its offering to 16 choices in leather, suede and cloth.

“Shutterfly Photo Books are one of our most popular products; they have earned us a loyal following of customers who appreciate high quality custom products they can create easily,” said Jeffrey Housenbold, CEO of Shutterfly. “We are constantly striving to delight our customers with new products and service enhancements. Through the addition of new features and designs to our Photo Book line, we are giving our customers even more options to express their creativity and transform their cherished photos into family heirlooms.”

Shutterfly Photo Books come in two formats: Hardcover and Softcover. Responding to customer requests for a fast and easy way to create Softcover versions of their Hardcover Photo Books, Shutterfly has introduced a one-touch process that instantly creates a Softcover copy of a user’s Hardcover Photo Book thereby making it simple for users to make duplicate copies for family and friends.

Today Shutterfly also introduced several new features that save time and simplify the Photo Book creation experience. The new single-page preview feature allows customers to get a closer look at their work by zooming in to examine page layout details. Additionally, Shutterfly now “right-sizes” each caption – lengthy captions are sized appropriately to fit the page layout while shorter captions appear larger – enhancing the appearance of each annotation.

Winner of the Money magazine Photo Book “Field Test,” a qualitative evaluation of the top five photo book producers, Shutterfly Hardcover Photo Books hold up to 100 acid-free pages, display up to 600 photos, and measure 8.75” x 11.25”. They start at $29.99 for the first 20 pages. Softcover Photo Books display up to 500 photos, measure 5.5” x 7.5” and start at $12.99 for 20 pages. Both are simple to create and are professionally bound with attractive covers containing a center cut opening that reveals the title page picture.
