New Survey Finds Cards and Photos Help Friends and Families Connect During the Holidays

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– According to a new survey from Shutterfly, the market leader in digital personalized photo products and services, the majority of holiday card senders plan to send at least the same number of holiday cards this year, and one in four of those plan to send more cards. Of those surveyed, recipients have specific tastes in the cards they receive and over half of survey respondents prefer to receive personalized cards.

“At Shutterfly, it’s more than just a holiday card; it’s something that allows you to connect with friends and family over the holiday season,” said Heather Maddan, Shutterfly chief storyteller. “We were delighted to hear that 85 percent of respondents feel that sharing photos during the holidays helps them connect with friends and family. This year Shutterfly helps customers create their perfect holiday card that captures their sentiment of the season.”

New Designs to Celebrate the Season

With holiday card season in full swing, Shutterfly offers more than 600 holiday card designs in multiple color and photo layouts and new back of card designs that let your photos bring the card to life. Shutterfly also introduced the first 6×8 flat stationery card on the market, which is sure to make a big statement in mailboxes this holiday season. Perfect for either that one favorite image or a picture collage that highlights the year — a popular favorite among holiday card shoppers — the new 6×8 card option is 33 percent larger and doesn’t require extra postage. Additionally, based on customer demand, Shutterfly released more than 60 new religious card designs just in time for the season.

From Click to “Cardworthy

The picture taking season spikes around the holidays, and according to the Shutterfly’s survey, nearly half of respondents take an annual photo, with 57 percent of them capturing that photo while at home during the holidays.

To help customers get that “Cardworthy” shot, Shutterfly just launched its Holiday Family Photo Solutions microsite to provide DIY tips, editorial advice and dozens of customer and employee videos to give card shoppers fresh ideas and a little inspiration to getting great holiday photos.

“Every photo is a ‘Cardworthy’ one when it best reflects your family and who they are,” added Maddan. “Our new Family Photo Solutions site is a great resource for anyone looking for holiday card tips and photo inspiration.”
